Conference to Address Alternative Dispute Resolution

NAHB, along with the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform and the National Chamber Foundation, is sponsoring a half-day program examining ways to reduce the burden of extended litigation.

Litigation is expensive, slow, complicated and unpredictable, according to organizers of the event. A RAND Corporation study finds that the average lawsuit in the U.S. takes more than three years to reach trial or settlement.

Aimed primarily at legislative staff on Capitol Hill, attorneys and academics, “Alternatives to Litigation” will be held at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. on April 14 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Among the legal experts and business executives who will discuss alternative methods for effective dispute resolution will be Marla Zwas, corporate counsel for Pulte Homes. Other speakers include representatives from the NYU Law School's Center for Labor and Employment; JAMS/Endispute; Wiley Rein & Fielding; Emory University; the American Arbitration Association; Hughes Hubbard & Reed, LLP; and the University of Kansas Law School.
