California Building Code Back on Track With Rest of Nation

An 8-2 vote by the California Building Standards Commission on March 16 to rescind an earlier decision by the administration of former Gov. Gray Davis to adopt the NFPA 5000 code is “a win for home buyers, home builders and local governments,” according to the California Building Industry Association (CBIA) in Sacramento.

Atlanta Green Builders Emphasize Top Home Performance

Haven Properties, of Alpharetta, Ga., is using green building certification to assure its customers that its homes are quality-built for high-performance, with no leaky basements, hot and cold areas or liability issues such as mold, David Milner, a vice president for the company, told NAHB’s Green Building Conference earlier this month in Atlanta.

NAHB will launch its redesigned Web site — www.nahb.org — during the first week in April. The redesign features an updated look and feel, improved login usability and a targeted "Welcome" message to help visitors find information that has been developed exclusively for them.
