Edwards Elected NCHI Lifetime Honorary Trustee

Chuck Edwards, a builder, developer and realtor based in Marietta, GA, and a leader in the housing industry for more than 35 years, has been elected as a Lifetime Honorary Trustee of the National Council of the Housing Industry (NCHI) —The Supplier 100 of NAHB. Over the 40-year history of NCHI, only four others have received this honorary distinction.

Edwards recently received the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association's Lewis Cenker Award for his lifetime contribution to the industry. In 2000, he was inducted into the Home Builders Association of Georgia's Hall of Fame. He is a past president of both the Atlanta association and the Home Builders Association of Georgia.

Edwards started his involvement with NAHB as a elected director in 1966. He became a  life director in 1976 and a senior life director in 1986. He was chairman of the State and Local Government Affairs Committee in 1975; a national representative in 1977; and Area IV vice president from 1978-79, representing Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Edwards served on the National Executive Committee from 1978-79; was appointed to the Executive Committee from 1981-82; and was appointed to NCHI from 1983-86 and from 1993-2001. He was chairman of The New American Home Committee in in 1994,1995,1997,1999, 2000, and 2001; was appointed that committee's chairman emeritus in 2002; and served as NCHI's co-chairman in 1996 and 1999.

Edwards was elected to the Georgia State Legislature in 1974, where he served on numerous committees, including State Planning and Community Affairs, Motor Vehicles, and State Institutions and Properties. He was also appointed to a special committee on the state's water resources.
