New Publication Provides Overview of Basic Construction Principles
The newest installment in the Residential Construction Academy (RCA) Series of training resources was published earlier this month.
Developed in partnership with Thomson/Delmar Learning and based on the Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Training (PACT) curriculum developed by the Home Builders Institute, the workforce development arm of NAHB, “Basic Principles for Construction" provides an overview of the basics of residential construction. The volume covers several areas, including mathematics, print reading, communications, workplace skills, safety, common tools and careers in the field.
An Instructor's Manual for the book includes review questions and answers, lecture outlines and exercises.
A CD-ROM containing lecture outlines, notes to instructors, a computerized test bank, PowerPoint™ presentations, image library and answers for review questions is also available.
The book is extensively illustrated and it establishes learning objectives for each chapter. A host of activities engage readers in functions typically encountered on the job.
