Education Programs Geared to Small Builders and Remodelers
Small builders and remodelers will find valuable information for their businesses at education sessions during the International Builders’ Show.
Among the programs:
- “Spread the Risk: Builder and Remodeler Diversification;” Monday, Jan. 19, 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Speakers are Vince Butler, CGR, GMB, CAPS, president, Butler Brothers Corporation; and M. M. (Mike) Weiss, CGR, CMB, CAPS, president, Weiss and Company. Explore diversification opportunities for builders and remodelers. Understand the ups and downs of builders entering the lucrative remodeling market and vice-versa. Learn to spread the risk between these two related, but distinctly different niches.
- “Managing Risk for the Remodeler and Home Builder;” Tuesday, Jan. 20, 4:00- 5:00 p.m. The speaker is Leslie C. Shiner, owner and principal, Shiner Financial Services. Remodelers need to quantify and understand their risk. This session will teach you how to follow the four steps of managing risk: assess, measure, mitigate and proceed.
- “The Remodeling Market;” Wednesday, Jan. 21, 4:00-5:00 p.m. Speakers are Gopal Ahluwalia, vice president, economic research, NAHB; and Kermit Baker, director of the Remodeling Futures Program, Joint Center for Housing Studies, Harvard University.
