TBA President Discusses Affordable Housing on The 700 Club

Tidewater Builders Association (TBA) President John Napolitano discussed the impact that the lack of affordable workforce housing is having on the business community and the economic well-being of communities in general during a live broadcast of the nationally syndicated show, The 700 Club, on Oct. 28.

Interviewed by host Pat Robertson at The 700 Club studios in Virginia Beach, VA, Napolitano explained how impact fees and anti-growth measures are adding costs to new homes and making it difficult for nurses, teachers, police officers, firefighters and others to find affordable housing in the communities where they work.

Napolitano said the lack of affordable housing could pose potential stumbling blocks for municipalities trying to convince businesses to locate in their areas.

The TBA president offered infill developments that were attractive to builders, home buyers and municipalities as a potential solution. He added that creating these developments would require that the public and private sectors work together to make them successful.
