Builders, Associations Can Win Recognition for Community Service

Home builders associations and their members can seek recognition for their volunteer efforts in the community by entering the competition for the Home Builders Care/National Housing Endowment Project of the Year Award.

To obtain an entry form, click here.

Submissions should be accompanied by a detailed project description of no more than two pages. Supporting materials such as press clippings, brochures or other project documents may be included.

The deadline for entries is Oct. 15.

The National Housing Endowment Board of Trustees will select a winner at its meeting in December.

Projects will be evaluated by the following criteria:

  • Provided a needed service to the community
  • Effectively promoted the goal of providing safe, decent, affordable housing or met a defined community need
  • Succeeded in motivating NAHB members or company staff to participate
  • Had a positive effect on its beneficiaries
  • Was creative
  • Met project goals
  • Is sustainable in subsequent years

The winners will be recognized at the International Builders' Show in Las Vegas in January.

The winning association or member will receive a $5,000 donation to a charity of their choice, a recognition plaque and 450 Home Builders Care water bottles to share with members, volunteers and community members who helped with the project.
