IBS Session Tells Builders How to Line Up Private Equity for Single-Family Projects

As banks clamp down on traditional lending, a new educational session at the NAHB International Builders’ Show is aimed at helping home builders find financing for their projects from a variety of funding sources.

The seminar — “Private Equity for Private Single-Family Builders and Developers: Now and Into the Next Market Cycle” — takes place from 10:00-11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 8, in West 306 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

The five speakers at the session have expertise in various aspects of the private finance industry. They will discuss the pros and cons of equity joint ventures, detail innovative methods of securing financing for projects and answer attendees’ questions about financing options.

The panelists will discuss the features of their current equity programs — including the types of projects they tend to fund, the range of financial returns they require and the margin of safety they expect.

Like all IBS education sessions, attendance at the Private Equity panel is available on a first-come, first served basis to full registrants and those who purchase a one- or two-day education with exhibits registration.

“This is a great opportunity for small and mid-size private companies to understand how they can take advantage of these non-traditional opportunities — providing the fit is right,” said Lance Swank, chair of NAHB’s Housing Finance Committee.

“When financing is tight, home builders need to examine all the alternatives,” he said.
