Fresco One, the 2010 BALA Home of the Year

NAHB's Design Committee and Builder magazine will announce the Best in American Living Awards 2011 Home of the Year, Room of the Year and Best in Region winners during the Design Reception from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, in the Design Studio, West 307 A.

For more than 25 years, the Best in American Living Awards, commonly known as BALA, have raised the bar for design excellence in the building industry and have highlighted those builders, architects, interior designers, remodelers, developers and land planners who have achieved superior levels of creativity and innovation.

In 2010, The Green Company received BALA Home of the Year honors for its Fresco One attached home nestled in The Pinehills, a community in Plymouth, Mass.

The design concept introduced seamless and energy-conscious indoor/outdoor living in attached townhomes to this region of New England.

The home incorporates an open plan, separated bedrooms for maximum privacy and an expanded laundry area with work space.

The home attracts buyers who require relaxed private entertaining at home and a vibrant, community-oriented lifestyle. In addition to being Energy Star-certified, the home is being reviewed for NAHB Green certification.

A complete list of the 2011 winners will be available online at www.nahb.org/bala beginning on Feb. 9, after the awards reception. In addition, while at IBS, read the February Issue of Builder magazine, which will feature several 2011 BALA winners.

The winners were selected in 30 award categories recognizing excellence in custom and spec homes, attached, detached and multifamily homes, as well as affordable housing, remodeling, rental developments, interior design, green homes and communities.
