Between operating a profitable business and creating a memorable experience for renters and condo buyers, managing an apartment or condominium community in today's economic reality has become a challenging balancing act.

At the 2011 NAHB International Builders’ Show in Orlando, leading industry professionals will explore strategies to help multifamily property managers increase their bottom line and attract prospects to their community during NAHB Multifamily’s inaugural Multifamily Property Management Summit.

The summit, which features three sessions, will be held from 8:45-11:45 a.m. EST on Thursday, Jan. 13, at NAHB Multifamily Apartment & Condo Central, Room 315 on Level III in the west concourse of the convention center.

The sessions include:

  • Social Media/Brand Management
    9:00-9:45 a.m. EST

Panelists will explain the importance of branding and marketing alignment — and how to manage an online reputation in order to attract prospective renters and buyers and maintain occupancy rates — by using advancements in technology and social media.

  • Media Planning
    10:00-10:45 a.m. EST

Attendees will learn about media planning methods for multifamily housing and how to develop a winning strategy that includes Twitter, Facebook, blogging, use of directory sites such as Craigslist and other innovative marketing sources.

  • Lease Optimization/Revenue Management
    11:00-11:45 a.m. EST

Panelists will discuss the benefits of value indexing — pricing units individually — and new rental renewal options available for providing “give-a-ways” and incentives, without affecting the bottom line. Panelists will also discuss how to strategically adjust rental rates on a weekly and daily basis, based on market demand.

Summit panelists include Sarah Greenough, of Princeton Properties; Duncan Alney, of Firebelly Marketing; Mark Juleen, of J.C. Hart Company; and Eric Broughton, of Yield Technologies, Inc.
