Burt’s Bees CEO to Address Green Building Conference

Burt’s Bees CEO John Replogle will be the keynote speaker at the 12th annual NAHB National Green Building Conference in Raleigh, N.C. on May 16-18.
Burt’s Bees is a personal care products company and a leader in corporate sustainability. In 2009, the company reduced its landfill waste by 51.5%, its energy consumption by 15.3% and its non-product manufacturing water use by 5.5%, according to a company press release.
The company also launched “Live the Greater Good,” a pioneering initiative designed to provide all Burt’s Bees employees with the tools and time during the work day to be involved in social and environmental education and action, ultimately attaining Burt’s Bees’ 2020 goal of 100% employee engagement in sustainability 10 years ahead of schedule.
In addition to Repogle’s keynote presentation on the afternoon of Sunday, May 16, highlights of this year’s conference include an expanded tour of green homes, advanced educational sessions and the annual NAHB National Green Building Awards dinner.
New seminar offerings include "The Economics of Green Homes and Green Building," "The Latest in Appraising and Lending on Green Buildings," and "Green Renovation & Addition," among others.
There will also be an all-day "GreenTensive" session on May 17 to encourage advanced and veteran green builders and remodelers to collaborate and share solutions to the challenges they have encountered.
“Advanced Green Building: Building Science” — the first of two new courses that will be required to earn the upcoming Master Certified Green Professional designation — will be offered on May 14-15 as a pre-conference education opportunity. Also offered will be “Green Building for Building Professionals” and “Business Management for Building Professionals,” both of which are required to earn the Certified Green Professional educational designation.
