Uponor to Exhibit Tubing for Greywater Systems

Uponor — a leading supplier of plumbing, fire safety and radiant heating and cooling systems — will be featuring a number of new products in Booth C1520 at the 2010 International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas.

Among the green-oriented products that will be exhibited:

  • AquaPEX Reclaimed Water tubing uses a layer of purple coloring to designate that it is for greywater systems that supply non-potable, reclaimed water to laundries, toilets and irrigation systems. The new tubing offers all the benefits of the company’s PEX-a crosslinked polyethylene for fast, easy, reliable connections without the need for torches, glues, solvents or gauges. Incorporating the tubing in greywater systems can help a home meet the National Green Building Standard.

  • Pre-insulated AquaPEX tubing is surrounded by a layer of one-half-inch PEX-foam insulation to insulate potable-water lines and meet national, state and local energy-code requirements.

“Not only does Pre-insulated AquaPEX provide a green, sustainable solution for plumbing systems, but it also saves on installation costs and time,” says Jayson Drake, senior product manager for plumbing and fire safety at Uponor. “In fact, according to RS Means Construction Data, Pre-insulated AquaPEX can save up to 37% on installation costs compared with the two-step installation and insulation process.”

  • A complete line of lead-free brass transition fittings and valves is aimed at meeting various state lead-free legislation and exceed the U.S. Safe Drinking Water Act. Combining these new fittings with Uponor’s PEX-a tubing, extensive engineered plastic (EP) offering and innovative ProPEX Out-of-the-Wall Support System provides a complete lead-free plumbing solution from the inlet to the faucet.

The new fittings carry the NSF us-pw-G marking for lead-free compliance and feature the manufacturer’s unique proPEX fitting system for strong, durable connections without the need for solvents, glues, torches or gauges.

Thirty-four brass transition fittings and valves are available in sizes up to 1-1/4 inches, including stub ells, tub ells, elbows, adapters, ball valves and stop valves, as well as fittings for washing machine and ice maker outlet boxes.
