Endowment to Fund ‘State of the Nation’s Housing’ Report

The National Housing Endowment is funding the "State of the Nation's Housing" report for the 12th year. The 2008 report will be available June 23. | The National Housing Endowment, the philanthropic arm of NAHB, will again fund the “State of the Nation’s Housing,” an annual report that has been produced by the Harvard University Joint Center for Housing Studies since 1988.
This will be the 12th year the endowment has funded the report.
“The State of the Nation’s Housing” report provides essential housing information including:
- A current assessment of housing’s role in the economy and its continued strength
- Housing affordability challenges
- House price appreciation and trends
- The evolving rental markets
- Demographics driving the housing market
The report serves as an essential resource for both public policy makers and private decision makers in the housing industry.
The endowment is continuing to support the Joint Center’s housing report by providing the center $27,000 over the next three years.
“We are proud to count the National Housing Endowment among our longstanding partners in sponsoring “The State of the Nation's Housing” report and are grateful for the board’s commitment to join with us in providing timely information on important housing challenges and opportunities,” said Nicolas Retsinas, director of Harvard’s Joint Center for Housing Studies.
“This report exemplifies the National Housing Endowment’s goal to support academic and field research that identifies and supports independent research that will advance the state of the residential construction industry,” said Gary Garczynski, endowment chairman and 2002 NAHB president.
 The report will be released on June 23 at the Ford Foundation in New York City.
