NAHB Remodelers Education at the Builders' Show
The NAHB Remodelers are sponsoring 12 top-notch education programs at the 2008 International Builders' Show in Orlando next month that are geared toward improving the members' industry knowledge and busienss skills.

Wednesday, Feb. 13

- "Cover Your Assets With Contracts"
10:30 a.m.-12:00 noon
Orange County Convention Center, South 310 A-D
Attendees will learn how to potect their professional and personal assets through contracting formats and other business strategies that can limit their exposure and risks.
- "Diversification and Leverage: Great Strategies for Tough Times"
1:00-2:30 p.m.
Orange County Convention Center, West 307
Remodelers and small-volume builders are under pressure from slow markets. This session explores the principles of leverage and diversifying possibilities and teaches attendees how to maximize their strength and safety. This session is helpful for staff members.
- "Achieving Accurate Numbers and Reliable Reports From QuickBooks"

Attendees will learn how to avoid dangerous information and bad accounting data by effectively using QuickBooks to help ensure that their financial information is useful, reliable, understandable, timely and accurate.
- "Loyalty Is Love: How to Hold Clients Close for Life"

Integrity, trust and helping employees continually learn is how to keep customers' hearts engaged emotionally — and build businesses that last. "Loyalty Is Love" shares how to make this connection and use the payoff to feed the heart of every business.
- "Controlling Profits With QuickBooks: Tips, Techniques and Opinions"

This session examines the pros and cons of in-house accounting; item list secrets; estimates and change orders as cost controls; speed, accuracy and control with purchase orders; time and labor burdens; promoting profits with variance reports; faster, bigger bank draws; and cleaner closings.

- "The Best Short, Complete Paper Trail"

Every business has documents. During this session, attendees will learn how to use the fewest number of documents while still having enough to protect their business and clients.
- "Remodeling Market"
8:00-9:30 a.m.
Orange County Convention Center, West 304 E-H
Gopal Ahluwalia, NAHB economist; Kermit Baker, Joint Center for Housing, Harvard University; and Mike Nagel, CGR, CAPS, Remodel One, will discuss where the remodeling market is headed in 2008. This session will examine the categories, cost and volume of residential remodeling activity for the year ahead.
- "Replacing the Seemingly Irreplaceable You"

Attendees will learn that they are not only replaceable, they will understand that the only way they will have the freedom to grow their business, retire and have a life is to replace themsevlves. To do so, they will learn how to give up doing it all, build a team of leaders and successfully move on to what's next.
