NAHB Awarded OSHA Grant for Fall Protection Training

NAHB will conduct 40 fall protection safety seminars across the country next year after being awarded a $241,248 grant from OSHA for safety training.
| NAHB and the NAHB Research Center were awarded a $241,248 grant from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) last month to conduct safety training across the country.
NAHB will use the grant to hold 40 four-hour fall protection training seminars in the nation's top 20 home building markets beginning next year. Thirty-five sessions will be conducted in English and five will be in Spanish.
During the past six years, NAHB and the research center have received more than $1.3 million in OSHA grants to provide safety training and materials to the home builders, their employees and contractors.
“We are honored that our dedication to worker safety has once again been recognized by OSHA,” said Andy Anderson, NAHB Construction Safety and Health Committee chairman and a builder from Pinopolis, S.C. “The ‘Fall Prevention Seminars’ and safety materials made possible by these grants helped us provide critical training to thousands of employers and employees in the home building industry.”
NAHB was one of 55 nonprofit organizations that received OSHA safety grants.
The grants were primarily awarded to industries and small business owners in order to educate employees who work in high-hazard industries, have limited English proficiency and are hard-to-reach or are in industries with high fatality rates. Click here for a list of 2007 recipients.
