Gainesville, Fla. builder-developer Barry Rutenberg and Arnold Tritt, the former executive director of the Northeast Florida Builders Association (NE FBA) in Jacksonville, were named to the Florida Housing Hall of Fame earlier this month during ceremonies at the Florida Homes Builders Association’s (FHBA) annual fall conference in Amelia Island.

Barry Rutenberg

Rutenberg, president of Barry Rutenberg Homes, was honored for his service to his local and state associations, NAHB and for his efforts to make key building materials, including softwood lumber, more affordable and available to builders.

Rutenberg served as president of the Builders Association of North Central Florida (BANCF) in 1978 and was president of FHBA in 2000. He is also an FHBA Life Director. At NAHB, Rutenberg is a member of the Executive Board and is a Senior Life Director.

Last year, working with NAHB, Rutenberg called on Congress and the Administration to end unwarranted tariffs on Canadian softwood lumber imported to the U.S. Among other civic and building-related activities, Rutenberg served on the State of Florida Growth Management study and was a delegate to the White House Conference on Small Business.

Rutenberg's FHBA recognition follows in the footsteps of his father, Arthur Rutenberg, a Florida builder since 1953, who was named to the Florida Housing Hall of Fame in 1996.

Arnold Tritt

Tritt was the NEFBA executive director for 34 years. During that time, he increased the association’s effectiveness in pubic relations, political action, community service, effective governance and fundraising. He helped grow the association to make it one of the largest in the nation.

Tritt has earned numerous association executive achievement awards, including the prestigious Seldon Hale Award for EO excellence. He currently serves as the executive adviser for the association.
