Workshop to Provide Guidance on Clean Water Act Compliance

NAHB and the National Mining Association are presenting a workshop for builders, developers and engineers looking for Clean Water Act guidance in the wake of the Rapanos and Carabel Supreme Court decision. The workshop will be held in Scottsdale, Ariz. on Sept.13.

Since the decision was announced more than a year ago, home builders have struggled with compliance questions as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have made conflicting jurisdictional determinations regarding what property is “in” and what is “out” when it comes to Clean Water Act regulations.

Earlier this summer, the federal agencies published post-Rapanos guidance for Corps district offices and state environmental regulators, but questions persist.

September’s workshop is being held with the assistance of Hunton & Williams, an environmental law firm that has long worked with NAHB. Depending on attendance and interest, the workshop may be repeated in other areas of the country.

The free workshop will be held at The Phoenician, a Scottsdale hotel, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

For information and reservations, contact program assistant Lindsay Cather at 800-368-5242 x8132.
