June 14 Symposium Looks at Safeguarding Homeownership
Sustaining homeownership at a time of economic challenge and a changing housing and financial services marketplace is the theme of a full-day symposium in Washington, D.C. on June 14 that will bring together mortgage industry leaders, consumer groups and public officials.
The Wells Fargo-sponsored symposium, “Safeguarding the American Dream,” will feature speakers representing the full range of mortgage lending activities — from outreach to the consumer through loan origination and servicing.
The event will look at fair and responsible lending and servicing practices designed to ensure that homeownership remains a viable opportunity for a broad spectrum of consumers.
Featured speakers will include Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alfonso Jackson; syndicated columnist Ken Harney; David Crowe of NAHB; Cara Heiden, division president of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage; and other housing and mortgage industry leaders and consumer advocates.
Speakers will address a range of topics, including:
- The economy and the American dream, and how the current climate impacts housing and mortgages
- Taking up the challenge of sustaining homeownership
- Building and financing the dream — an industry responds to a challenging climate
- Back to the neighborhood — building thriving communities in America’s cities and towns
The symposium will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Ronald Reagan Building, 1300 Pennsylvania Ave, N.W.
