Top Green Builders Insulate With Icynene

At last month’s National Green Building Conference in St. Louis, top U.S. green builders were recognized for incorporating green products like the Icynene® Insulation System into the homes they build.
Icynene® is a 100% water-blown spray foam insulation and qualified air sealing system that’s ideal for green building. Sprayed on as a liquid, it expands into every crack and crevice, greatly reducing air leakage and tightly sealing a building’s thermal envelope.
Among builders and remodelers who have successfully used Icynene are:
- Sun Mountain Construction, of Albuquerque, N.M., in its Vision House 2006, which was named Single-Family Concept Home of the Year in NAHB’s National Green Building Awards
- CMI Homes, Inc., of Roslyn, Wash., in its Built Green Home at Suncadia, which was named by NAHB as the Green Home Marketing Project of the Year
- Carl Seville of Seville Consulting in Atlanta, who was named Remodeler Advocate of the Year
With 80% of Americans in a Harris Interactive poll this January expressing concern over the long-term effects of global warming, Icynene Inc. is opening a new government affairs office in Washington, D.C. to lead a national advocacy campaign on behalf of the product.
“For more than 20 years, Icynene has worked with American builders to embrace green building and deliver benefits home owners want — healthier and more comfortable homes,” said Alan Rankin, the company’s president. “With the new office in Washington, D.C., Icynene stands behind this ideal and rededicates itself with a campaign that will ensure Americans have the best green building insulation product the market offers — one that ensures homes are healthier, quieter and more energy-efficient.”
