Star Home Builders Honored for Building Homeless Shelter

Endowment Funds Dunlop Lecture Series for Three More Years

The National Housing Endowment, the workforce development arm of NAHB, has agreed to fund and extend the prestigious John T. Dunlop Lecture series for an additional three years. The endowment’s board of trustees approved $24,000 in funding for the series during the International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla. earlier this year.

The lecture series, begun in 1999, has featured such renowned housing officials and building industry leaders as Jack Kemp, former secretary of housing and urban development during the George H.W. Bush Administration; Henry Cisneros, former HUD secretary during the Clinton Administration; Angelo O. Mozilo, the CEO of Countrywide Financial; Herbert V. Kohler, founder, president and chairman of the Kohler Company; and F. Barton Harvey, chairman and CEO of Enterprise Community Partners, which has worked with more than 1,200 community-based nonprofit organizations to provide decent, affordable housing and a path out of poverty for low-income families.

The lecture series is co-sponsored by the Harvard University Joint Center for Housing Studies. The lectures are generally held in Cambridge, Mass. in the fall.

The lecture series honors John T. Dunlop, Lamont University professor emeritus of Harvard University from 1985 to 2003 and advisor to U.S. presidents, beginning with Franklin D. Roosevelt. He also was the secretary of labor during the Ford Administration. In 1986, Dunlop was named to the NAHB Housing Hall of Fame. He also was a founding trustee of the endowment.

The Dunlop Lecture is open to the public.
