Noted Wisconsin Builder Arthur Davis, Jr. Dies at 86

Arthur Davis, Jr., a Green Bay, Wis. native who co-founded Jim Davis Construction and was one of the founders of the Brown County Home Builders Association, died Wednesday, Jan. 24. He was 86.

Davis was president of the Brown County Home Builders Association in 1963 and the Wisconsin Builders Association in 1968.

He was a lifetime member of the NAHB Board of Directors. He also helped write Green Bay's first formal building code.

Davis was named Brown County’s builder of the year in 1979, and he was named to the Wisconsin Builders Association Hall of Fame in 2002.

Davis, his brother John and their father founded Davis Insulation and Supply in 1947. Five years later, they started Jim Davis Construction. The company built more than 1,000 homes in the Green Bay area.

When Arthur Davis, Jr. was named Brown County's builder of the year, he proudly noted that his family still owned the first home he built in 1952.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Neva; one son, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a brother, John.
