RCS Designation Reaches 12,000th Attendee at SEBC
Continuing to gain in popularity, The Home Builders Institute's (HBI) Residential Construction Superintendent (RCS) Designation program reached a significant milestone at last month’s Southeast Building Conference (SEBC) in Orlando, Fla. when it was attended by its 12,000th trainee.
For the fourth consecutive year, HBI offered the RCS designation program in its entirety at SEBC, and as in the past, the courses were filled to capacity.
Participation in the RCS designation program has averaged nine students per day since its inception and the courses are now being taught in 15 states in partnership with 28 local home builders associations. So far this year, 173 courses have been taught across the country.
“I previewed the program by taking the classes myself at the last SEBC,” said Robert Clouse, a senior area manager for Westfield Homes, and “I quickly realized that this program would be a valuable addition to the training we already provide our construction managers.”
The RCS designation is a continuing education program for future field superintendents and current construction site personnel who are sharpening their skills. The designation consists of eight, four-hour courses covering material identified by NAHB members as essential to a field supervisory job.
