Fashion Week Diamonds to Benefit Missing Children

Appearing during New York Fashion Week, natural stone giant Cosentino unveiled a one-of-a-kind Silestone Diamond Quartz surface that will be auctioned off to raise awareness and funds for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Cosentino, the manufacturer of Silestone natural quartz surfaces, is a member of the National Council of the Housing Industry — The Supplier 100 of NAHB.

Backstage at designer Carmen Marc Valvo's show, a 12-inch square quartz tablet was encrusted with 57 carats of diamonds provided a preview of the countertop that will be on the auction block in early December. It will be paved with more than 150 carats of diamonds.

An empty seat remained vacant throughout the Valvo runway show, symbolizing all of the children in the country who are missing. Next to the seat were Ernie Allen, president and CEO of NCMEC, and Soledad O’Brien, a children’s advocate and anchor for CNN’s American Morning.

“We are grateful to Carmen Marc Valvo and Consentino for their generosity to our mission of helping to keep children safer,” said Allen.

“Carmen Marc Valvo’s show was the perfect backdrop to launch this unique and desirable countertop,” said Robert Contreras, president and CEO of Cosentino North America. “We are honored to be a part of this movement to raise awareness and proceeds that will help protect our most precious treasure, our children.”

Vistors to the Web site are being encouraged to cast their vote for the celebrity most likely to make the winning bid for the countertop — Ben Affleck, Brad Pitt, P. Diddy, Donald Trump, Bill Gates or Tiger Woods.

Fast emerging as the most desired countertop surface in fine homes around the world, Silestone Quartz is the first choice with leading interior designers and builders.
