Jones a Candidate for NAHB Vice President and Secretary

The NAHB Nominations Committee has certified Robert Jones of Bloomfield Hills, Mich. as a candidate for NAHB Vice President and Secretary for 2007.

The following is a statement from the candidate:

“This time, I’m ready.

I ran for NAHB Vice President/Secretary once before. I’d led two major organizations in my community and thought I was ready to help lead this one. Boy was I wrong, and the voters knew it.”

Bob works. Has all his life. He started his company in Michigan in 1979, with his wife, Carole. A small volume, single-family home builder, Bob is an NAHB life director and Executive Board voting member. Elected NAHB 1998/99 Michigan national representative, Jones was named National Representative of the Year.

Bob led the 12,000-member Michigan Association of Home Builders as president in 1999, and is a state director. He was president of his local association, the third largest in the U.S., in 1994 and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2000.

But all that was before the NAHB said, “Bob, that’s just not enough.” And, Bob said to himself, “I’m going to totally immerse myself in NAHB.”

Since 2002, Bob has honored that commitment:

  • Chairman, Millennial Housing Commission Home Ownership Working Group, 2002
  • Chairman, Resolutions Committee, 2005
  • Chairman, Single Family Small Volume Builders Committee, 2006
  • Vice-Chairman, National Council of the Housing Industry (NCHI), 2004
  • Member, Smart Growth Task Force, 2002
  • Member, Federal Government Affairs Committee, 2003 and 2004
  • Member, Platinum Club, 2005-present
  • Member, Budget and Finance Committee and Investment Subcommittee, 2005
  • Member, Budget and Finance Balanced Public Policy Subcommittee, 2005

This time, Bob’s ready.
