Seniors Housing Design Awards Expand Categories

The NAHB Seniors Housing Council has announced its call for entries for the 2004 Best of Seniors Housing Design Awards competition.

Project owners, builders, developers, remodelers, operators, architects, land planners, interior designers and marketing and advertising firms that serve the 55+ market are eligible to win gold and silver awards in 66 categories.

Now in its 13th year, the awards have been expanded to include categories for seniors multifamily and aging-in-place design, according to Quincy R. Johnson III, chairman of the 2004 Design Awards Committee and president of Boca Raton, FL-based Quincy Johnson Architects.

In addition to their design, projects will be judged on how they overcame specific constraints, such as those related to marketability, budget, sites and programs.

The awards also feature separate categories for community center, common area, interior design, model merchandising and more.

The award winners will be recognized during the 2004 International Builders' Show in Las Vegas in January.

Award-winning projects will be exhibited prominently at the IBS, displayed on the NAHB Web site and featured in the NAHB Seniors Housing Council’s quarterly magazine, Seniors Housing News.

The deadline for entries is Oct. 10.
