Charlotte Builders Exemplify Ethics in Business

Simonini Builders, Inc. owned by Alan Simonini and Ray A. Killian, Jr., last week received the 2003 Charlotte Ethics in Business Award for a small business with under 100 employees. The Society of Financial Service Professionals sponsors the awards.

The awards were made based on these criteria:

• Clear demonstration of the company’s executive commitment to ethics
• A corporate code of ethics, credo, mission statement or philosophy that demonstrates the company’s requirement for honesty, integrity and compliance
• Clear communication of the company’s ethical standards, corporate culture and expectations of employees
• Clear indication that employees throughout the organization understand and accept the company’s ethical standards
• Consistently high quality of products and services
• Corporate commitment to providing a work environment that is safe and free from harassment or inappropriate behavior
• Community commitment demonstrated by involvement in local, regional or national issues, corporate philanthropy and support of civic endeavors

Over 60 companies in Charlotte were nominated for the award. Rodgers Builders, Inc., won in the category for a medium-sized business and Goodrich won in the large category.
