Homes: Americans' First and Foremost Investment

I applaud you for the article by Kent Conine (“Don't Believe Everything You Read in the Papers,” March 17). As an owner of a company that provides marketing services for the industry, I have been preaching for years that we don't have enough housing and that the housing we do have has aged to a point where repair and remodel has and will continue to be a robust market.

Americans will continue to invest in their own homes first and foremost.

Who You Gonna Call?

It's funny to see someone making these remarks. (“Don't Believe Everything You Read in the Papers,” March 17) The only sound investment Americans have right now is their home.

With interest rates as low as they are, the American people can afford to build a better home. When the bank is not getting the extra three or four percent, the average person can add that to their home and afford some of those little extra luxuries. I know, crazy concept, the “Average American” getting a little more out of their home and the bank getting a little less.

I have a suggestion. Want a good investment? Find your local home builder and give them a call.
