Green Legislative Toolkit Now Available

In response to proposed state and local government green building mandates, NAHB has unveiled a new toolkit publication, NAHB’s "Green Building Legislative Responses: Find the Right Shade of Green for Your Community."

HBA leaders previewed the new publication at this year’s State and Local Government Affairs Conference in Austin, Texas on Nov. 10.

Whether your HBA is positioning itself ahead of this trend by starting a voluntary green building program, getting ready to join the NAHB National Program or already facing onerous green building legislation, this toolkit provides useful information and generalized strategy to help your HBA offer strong alternatives to residential green building mandates.

The toolkit serves as a primer on green building and the tools and resources available through NAHB.  It also contains talking points to help frame the issue for local policymakers, an action strategy plan for your campaign and legislative responses.

In addition to providing guidance on organizing your HBA’s response to proposed green building mandates, this resource will help you to raise awareness about the issue amoung your membership.  Builder and industry support are essential to successfully influence regulatory or legislative process.

If you'd like a copy of the toolkit, contact NAHB Government Affairs Mananger Alex Strong.
