Who Needs Guidelines? 137 HBAs and Counting

Whether to promote their own local green building programs or to pave the way for the creation of a program in the future, 137 state and home builders associations responded to NAHB’s offer to send complimentary copies of the Model Green Home Building Guidelines to their offices last month.

More than 12,000 copies of the Guidelines were printed in June in support of developing and launching NAHB’s National Green Building Program.

“In short, the guidelines allow builders to make decisions that positively impact energy efficiency, resource conservation and indoor environmental quality throughout the entire design and construction process,” said Ray Tonjes, chairman of the NAHB Green Building Subcommittee. “Green means doing the right thing for the builder, the home owner and most importantly, the environment.”

The Guidelines are also available as a CD and builders and HBAs can order multiple copies of the disk by contacting Diane Webb in the NAHB Construction Codes and Standards office.
